She is a married woman, but more than her win, this edition of the pageant was in the news for lax eligibility rules. Miss Universe officials also allowed separated and divorced women to participate this year, and included more transwomen as well as plus-size women.
Among those who didn’t win but still stole the spotlight was Miss Nepal Jane Deepika Garrett, a plus-size model and the first such contestant in the elite pageant.
He proved that circumstances and body shape should not be barriers to success. Despite the unusual circumstances and physique, he gave the same message to the world that no matter how tough the situation, you have to give in to your willpower.
